Long ago, there was a guy named St. Valentine who wanted people to get married, but the king said no. He kept helping people get married, so the king got angry and punished him. Some people also think Valentine's Day is connected to an old Roman festival about finding love.

Now, Valentine's Day is all about love. People give each other cards and gifts. It's a day when everyone celebrates love with their friends and family. In recent years, there has been an increasing trend for people to buy gifts for toddlers, pets, friends and sometimes themselves. 

In South Korea and Japan, Valentine’s Day is about – Pamper the men. It’s the men who are pampered in this part of the world on Valentine’s when women buy chocolates for their male partners, family members and coworkers as a token of affection and appreciation. 

All of the lovebirds in the UK exchange gifts of flowers, chocolates and jewelry on this day. The couples typically enjoy a nice dinner on the town or opt for a candle-lit spread at home in the evening.
